“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT (http://bible.com/116/2co.12.9.NLT)
Remember singing this?
Jesus Loves me, This I know
For the Bible tells me so,
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak, but He is Strong.
Yes, Jesus Loves me,
Yes, Jesus Loves me,
Yes, Jesus LOVES me,
The Bible tells me so.
I know Jesus Loves me. I know this, because I have witnessed it again and again in my life. I know that His Grace has saved me countless times from consequences of my thoughts and actions – Literally saved my life. That is not to say that I haven’t had to deal with consequences. My best thinking is what’s called stinkin’ thinkin’ in recovery programs, and stinkin’ thinkin’ often leads to some drastic consequences .
I know Jesus Loves me because I saw how my parents lived that love in their lives. I know He Loves me because of the compassionate love pastors and laypersons have shown me through Christ Jesus. Have you felt that Love in your life? We so often miss Him, because we have remained too busy reminding ourselves of how inadequate we are. It’s true, we are completely inadequate to show God’s Love to others. Circumstances and consequences break us. Jesus puts us back together so that His Light can shine through the cracks and holes where we are broken and incomplete.
“And this is God’s plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God’s children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus. God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord. When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.” – Ephesians 3:6, 10-11, 14-21 NLT (http://bible.com/116/eph.3.6-21.NLT)
What a great reminder of God’s Love!
