Just As I Am

Just as I am – words by Charlotte Elliott 1789-1871

 Just as I am, without one plea,

But that Thy blood was shed for me,

And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

 Just as I am, and waiting not

To rid my soul of one dark blot;

To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

 Just as I am, though tossed about

With many a conflict, many a doubt;

Fightings within, and fears without,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

 Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;

Sight, riches, healing of the mind;

Yes, all I need, in Thee to find,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

 Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,

Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;

Because Thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

 Just as I am, Thy love unknown

Has broken every barrier down;

Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

God doesn’t want us to live in pain and suffering and sorrow. He wants us just as we are, with all of our baggage. Old and soaked in sin or as an innocent child. Just as I am, without one plea. We are guilty. We have nothing to plead our case, until we bring our burdens to the cross and surrender them to Jesus, The Advocate. There at His feet, He will welcome us and pardon us and cleanse us. He willing takes on all that weighs us down, leaving us free to worship our LORD!

 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” – Matthew 6:34 NLT
